Cabin House Lyrics

in this cabin house
the walls are creeping me out
there’s too much to say
I’ll say it my way

hold the blankets tight
the ghosts are having a fight
it’s independence day
soldiers are praying

so much unknown sound
the wind just trying to be found
I’m tied with fishing lines
I’m left behind

in this cabin house
the fire never goes out
but we’re all made of dust
anyway

Cabin House Song Meaning & Comments:

  • I love the verse about independence day, it really reminds me of childhood and the special times with family and friends. The Fourth of July was always my favorite holiday, no material gifts, no stress just friends family and the outdoors. It really hit me one summer when I was living alone in Bermuda, missing my place and the special moments far away. You can’t ever get those back but no one can really ever take them from your heart either.

This whole song is beautiful, the lyrics and music. It really expresses the innocence and feelings of childhood for me. The young fears of the dark and wind, the creepy environment, things that really fill your mind as a child. The strong warm fire that never goes out… definitely a symbol for more that just the real fire. Maybe the family, the country, the men and women who have put so much into it.
