You’re wasted. You can’t fake it.
There’s too much weight on your shoulder blades.
And it takes all you’ve got
to put up a good fight.
Watching for the clock to strike a quarter past when.
So get out on the dance floor let the party begin.
We’ll come in at all hours and we’ll crawl into bed.
To the beat of desire we move and spin.
I’m lonely tonight.
A silent freedom to find.
It’s scarred and sacred.
It’s mine for the taking.
Watching for the clock to strike a quarter past when.
So get out on the dance floor let the party begin.
We’ll come in at all hours and crawl into bed
to the beat of desire we move and spin.
uh-oh, uh-oh
uh-oh, uh-oh
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-oh
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-oh
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-ha
It’s scarred and sacred.
It’s mine for the taking.
come on, come on
come on, come on
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-ha
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-ha
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you. ah-ho
Rhythm and blues this one’s for you.
I don’t want to do this alone,
but you’ve left me with no choice and It’s just like you said,
you never know you might not come back.
I don’t want to do this alone,
but you’ve left me with no choice and It’s just like you said,
you never know I might not come back.

The first section of lyrics makes me think of Atlas. He has to hold the weight of the world on his shoulders and it makes him a vulnerable character, he can’t fight. As the song progresses there is talk about the beat of desire and the dance floor, allusions to sex maybe? and the scarred and sacred part made me think of a circumcised penis. Maybe she is conquering this guy and now he is hers for the taking? The lyrics on the CD insert say you never know I might not come back but in the song she sings you might not come back. There’s a lot here to consider. Great song.
